Grand Central Hotel Shanghai Review
The Bund Famed Waterside Walkway is placed merely 900 metres away, and AroundSpace Gallery is 550 metres from the fine 5-star Grand Central Hotel Shanghai.
Guests can enjoy Chinese meals at Lost Heaven on the Bund within 15 minutes' walk of the property.
Impressions
Title: A Memorable Adventure at Grand Central Hotel Shanghai
Embarking on a thrilling adventure in Shanghai calls for a stay at the centrally located Grand Central Hotel. As you step into the lobby, you're immediately captivated by its lavish Vegas-style aesthetic. The opulence is enhanced by the presence of a self-playing piano, which adds a unique touch to the atmosphere. Although this might not suit everyone's taste, those seeking a touch of grandeur and excitement will find themselves right at home here.
Exploring the city is made effortless, with the Bund and popular shopping areas just a short walk away. After a day of immersing yourself in the vibrant city life, head up to the fifth floor and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool. While the chlorination may not be top-notch, the spacious changing rooms and the chance to stretch your muscles make it worth a visit. However, the jacuzzi falls short in both appearance and functionality, with loose support poles and a somewhat unclean exterior.
When it's time to retire for the night, you'll find comfort in the large and cozy rooms at Grand Central Hotel. The beds offer a restful night's sleep, and the effective air conditioning ensures a pleasant temperature throughout your stay. Sadly, the breakfast experience leaves much to be desired. The absence of fresh juice, replaced by carton alternatives, and limited options compared to other hotels in China can be rather disappointing.
Regrettably, the hotel's management at the lobby floor exhibited a lack of attentiveness during a significant celebration. While allowed to light birthday candles, the request to enjoy birthday cake in the lobby was met with an unexpected refusal. This response marred what could have been a truly memorable experience. As a result, we took the celebration to our room and refrained from ordering drinks at the pricey lobby bar. Itโs a valuable reminder that first impressions matter and can greatly impact the overall guest experience.
In conclusion, the Grand Central Hotel Shanghai is best suited for adventure-seekers who appreciate a touch of extravagance. With its central location and easy access to iconic landmarks, this hotel serves as an excellent base for exploring Shanghai. While there are minor drawbacks, such as subpar breakfast options and a disappointing experience with the management, the comfortable rooms and the hotel's overall allure make it a noteworthy destination for those looking to embark on an unforgettable adventure in Shanghai.
